The Cobra XRS is a wireless radar detector and has been a big hit among drivers. The system does include a GPS receiver that immediately alerts the driver when driving in the vicinity of speed traps or red light camera locations.
This radar detector provides long range detection of police radar giving the driver ample warning. Despite what is mentioned over the internet, it works best for detecting signals for up 1-2 miles. Even the fastest POP mode radar guns are easily outwitted by the Cobra XRS.
The device is easy to install and features a wireless LCD display unit. All the controls are push buttons and easy to handle. Besides a 360 degree radar and laser detection capability, the device also gives voice alerts. The one minor negative of the cobra XRS is that it does activate fairly frequently, especially when driving in the city. This is most likely due to its oversensitivity.
The device does come with a battery charger. The remote display controller can be installed on the AC vent or clipped to the sun visor. The radar detector can also be placed near the rear view mirror or the dash board. The price of the Cobra XRS RG9 starts at about $ 400.
