If you are looking for a superior radar detector, look no further than the Valentine One (V1). The V1 sits at the top of the list for range, invisibility to POP radar guns, and police laser detector quality. It has the highest detection range available when compared to other radars in its class. A unique two-antenna design gives you 360 degrees of coverage. If you do not mind the occasional false alarm, you will appreciate the high sensitivity level of the V1, allowing it to spot radar traps that others may miss.
The V1 is followed closely in coverage and dependability by the Escort Passport 9500i. In many tests, the Escort 9500i scores as well or just below the Valentine One. One area where it truly excels is in eliminating false alerts. The Escort radar detector’s GPS feature allows users to record false alarms by location and frequency. Drivers can also record the locations of known speed traps and traffic enforcement cameras, and the Escort 9500i will alert users when approaching those locations. Another way the Escort 9500i helps to eliminate false alarms is by allowing the user to choose between city and highway driving conditions. For example, if you have selected “city” and are driving through town, small frequencies such as automatic doors at convenient stores will not register, therefore helping to further eliminate false alarms.
Both the Valentine One and the Passport 9500i faired well against tests involving POP signals. This is good for highway drivers since POP signals can be difficult to detect. POP signals are sent out in tiny bursts, allowing police to detect speeders before turning their gun into constant-on mode, giving away their location to all radar detectors.
No matter how effective radar detectors may be, many people choose the proven technology of radar jammers, also known as radar blockers. While the radar jammer selection is far more limited that that of radar detectors, almost any jammer selected will do the job.
The Blinder XTreme is a dual-transceiver design with both units mounted in the front of the vehicle. This unit is 99 percent effective at blocking police radars and lasers. One area the Blinder will be of no help is blocking Photo Lidar signals. Photo Lidar are fixed lasers which are linked to digital cameras. The cameras, in turn, are connected to a central stat on via the internet. When someone runs a red light or speeds past the laser, the violator is recorded and ticketed via mail. One complain among users of the Blinder XTreme is the ear piercing alerts produced by this model. For peace of mind wile driving, perhaps a pair of earplugs would be a wise investment.
The Escort Shifter ZR3 and the BEL Laser Pro 904 are so similar in features and performance that they can be listed together. In 2005 the Escort Shifter and the BEL Laser Pro were tested at the “Guys of Lidar” Laser Jammer Shoot Out. Both performed well against all laser guns, with the exception of the Laser Atlanta Type S (when it was placed into Stealth Mode). And just as the Blinder XTreme, the Escort ZR3 and BEL Laser Pro seem to have difficulties when defending against the Photo Lidar signals.
If you are in the market for any device to alert you of police speed detection signals, or to defend you of them, stick to the brands mentioned in this article. They have been tested time and time again, and fair well in most trials to which they are subjected. Small differences can be found in devices from company to company, but protection is key among them all. Happy driving.

The passport S4 E45 generally comes with the Passport 8500 X 50 radar detector and the Blinder M45 Laser Jammer. The passport 8500 X 50 has already proven to be an effective radar detector across 12 bands including the X, K, L Ka and POP ka, and photo radar detection. Like its predecessors, the 8500 Passport has immunity to the VG2, the VG4 and Spectre 1RDD. There is some evidence that it is also invisible to the specter 2 and 3 at distance of more than 700 feet. The Passport 8500 has an excellent LCD display unit which immediately displays all the warning signs. It also has voice alerts.
The laser blinder M 45 has proven to be formidable opponent against all types of laser guns. The laser jammer modules are generally installed in the front grille and invisible to the naked eye.
Whether on the highway or city driving, the Passport SE 4 45 has excellent performance. One negative is that it does pick up a few erronious signals sending one too many voice alerts. At the cost of $969, this combined protection will help you defeat anything that the police have out there. This is the top dog in radar detection and is hard is going to be hard to beat.
The ultimate radar detector if there ever was one is now available. The Escort passport SRX is a remote mounted radar detector and laser jammer. The device has the ability to detect all radar bands include X, K and super wide Ka. Like its previous generation of radar detectors it also is immune to VG2. The one biggest advantage of this device is that improvements in the auto sensitivity area. This has helped enormously while driving in the city and has significantly reduced false negative signals.
Whether on the highway or city, the Escort Passport SRX rapidly detects al types of police radar and laser signals instantly. When the roads are flat it can pick up signals as far as 3 miles. The narrow LCD screen easily displays the text. The radar does come with a few accessories such as direct wire cord, an external speaker and a deluxe Radar detector.
The new programmable laser trans-receiver provides the ultimate protection against laser targeting. It is highly recommended that this device be professionally installed for discreet protection.
The Escort Passport SRX comes with a complete comprehensive manual, installation instructions, remote mute button, complete wiring harness and mounting hardware.
The cost of the Escort SRX is about $1200. While this may sound exorbitant, you can rest assured that you will not be buying any more radar detectors for a very long time

When I say cop detector do you think of a radar detector, or a person with very good eyesight? For me, it’s up for grabs as I’ve seen my detector save my ass around a long corner - but at the same time, saw my friend call a cop 2 minutes before we rounded the corner and my detector went off.
Let’s cover both. The definition in my mind of a cop detector could be both, however radar detectors certainly make things easier around blind turns. Always treat your alerts as if they are real. Radar detectors alone have saved me from a lot of mistakes when I’ve been going with the flow of traffic - however you need to know how to read the road as well. Personally I use the Valentine 1 radar detector and I believe it to be one of the best, and I love the directional arrows. Why look forward when the cop is behind you?
A cop detector as in a person is someone that knows how to read the road and think of cop spots before you get there. Always look at overpasses, on ramps going onto your road, sides of the roads, medians, middle crossovers (tip: look for the “Authorized Personnel Only” signs!) and cars that you pass or pass you. Another tip that I can give you, look at all of the years of crown vics and malibu’s (and chargers depending on where you live) and memorize the HEADLIGHTS. You can see them coming up about 3000 feet back if you’re good.
Use the skills, and protect yourself! Become, a cop detector
A radar jammer is a device that is mounted or carried in an automobile for the purpose of scrambling, jamming, or otherwise interfering with the radar or laser speed detection methods used by law enforcement. Radar jammers work using an active signal and are illegal in all fifty of the
The method of radar jamming utilizes an active signal that is broadcast from the vehicle and is intended to muffle or scramble the law enforcement official’s radar gun results. The jamming signal is emitted from a radio transmitter which closely mimics or replicates the signal broadcast from the radar gun and sends it back to the gun convoluted with added radio “white” noise that purportedly confuses the detection device so that an accurate reading is impossible.
The effectiveness of both radar jammers are highly disputed between law enforcement agencies, consumers, automobile publications, and the radar jammer manufacturers. Law enforcement agencies have tried to dissuade consumers from buying radar jammers not only because they are illegal because they emit a signal that is intended to interfere with the radar guns but also as self-appointed consumer advocates. Some agencies go so far as to show footage of select radar jammers failing miserably in police-run tests. The credibility of these tests is often questioned by consumer advocates and, naturally, the radar manufacturers.
The effectiveness of radar jammers continues to be in question, however. For instance, many motorists notice that roadside trailers used by law enforcement to alert drivers of their speeds can always detect their speeds. Radar jammer manufacturers claim that these devices use a different technology than what is used by conventional radar guns but law enforcement is adamant that the technology is the same.
Additionally, many consumers are convinced of their jammer’s effectiveness because of the manufacturers’ guarantee that it will pay for up to $100 in whatever speeding fines a customer is charged. However, considering that manufacturing costs of the items are rarely more than twenty dollars and they sell for well over three hundred dollars, the manufacturer can pay a $100 ticket for every customer that they have and still turn a profit.
Effective or not, radar jammers are continuously increasing in popularity as the lure of driving fast still hits many Americans each day, insurance premiums rise, and traffic ticket penalties become stiffer.
